71/72 The Kingsway

The Challenge

The key challenge for the project from our perspective was to integrate on-building greening with the new street space (The Kingsway), which we had helped to design. An additional challenge was to make the connections and internal courtyard spaces, as well as roof terraces contribute a building that would inject new energy into this part of Swansea City Centre. 

Our Role

Having completed initial feasibility studies to prove the proposals were deliverable and impactful, the client required a full design team to move the scheme forward. The role of Urban Designer was no longer required and we handed over our retained knowledge and contributed as landscape architect and planning consultant to the client and project team. 

The Outcome

The outcome is a scheme of the highest quality, which integrates exceedingly well into the wider urban environment. Perhaps the most successful element are the generous roof gardens and terraces that will contribute significantly to the occupiers experience of working in this building.
